'Chronicles of Narnia' remake as TV series by Netflix

Although Chronicles of Narnia isn't strictly a historical series, fantasy genre drives heavily from Medieval culture, costumes and legends, so in some way fantasy films are second cousin to period drama.

Netflix streaming service carries on introducing bold TV series - after House of Cards, The Crown and Orange is the New Black, it turned its attention to children's classics and obtained the rights to all seven books - which hasn't been done before. With the company's current leadership and growing popularity of binge watching TV series and high quality drama on television, the new adaptation is a promising step for the books' fans and families.

"It is wonderful to know that folks from all over are looking forward to seeing more of Narnia, and that the advances in production and distribution technology have made it possible for us to make Narnian adventures come to life all over the world. Netflix seems to be the very best medium with which to achieve this aim, and I am looking forward to working with them towards this goal.”

Douglas Gresham, C.S Lewis's stepson

The last series of adaptations consisted of three feature-length films: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005), Prince Caspian (2008) and Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010), all three grossing over $1 billion dollars between them. Before that there was a BBC series adaptation in late 80s.
