Critics Reception
Most of the reviews are sceptical, if not disappointed - the film drives far away from the film, is built on historical inaccuracies, and the acting doesn't live up to the stars' names.
Historical Background
The story is based on famous Anne Boleyn's character and her ascend to power as Henry VIII's second wife - and on Philippa Gregory's book The Other Boleyn Girl. However, many events in the film are historically inaccurate - both Mary and Anne were sent to France as ladies-in-waiting before they met Henry VIII in person, and the king injured his leg in a joust when he was young - and other small inaccuracies.
