Critics Reception

The main criticism of the film was that it took itself too seriously - turning Maid Mariam into feisty Cate Blanchett and the light-spirited and fox-like character of the elusive Robin of Hood into a bulky, warrior-like Russell Crowe, aka Maximus 2.0. It is generally understood that the film makes a strong plot, gives Robin Hood story a new spin and attempts to turn it into a Medieval epic (which would actually fit the setting). Whether Ridley Scott succeeds or not, the critics' opinions vary.
