What's it about?
Set in AD 180, it is based on the fictional story of general Maximus - who becomes a slave after the new Emperor of Rome Commodus kills his father Marcus Aurelius and order the general's death. Maximus becomes the most famous gladiator in Rome and challenges the unfit Emperor in the arena.
