The King's Speech, 2010

What's it about?

Based on the true story of king George VI, the film follows his struggle to overcome his stammering as he is to become the spokesman and figurehead of the whole country, replacing his brother Edward VIII as the king. He attends psychotherapeutic sessions with an Australian actor Lionel Logue, who used unorthodox methods to heal shell-shocked soldiers from World War I and helped George VI overcome his trauma as well.

Why watch it?

For the beloved British 'underdog overcoming all obstacles in the end' story; great acting; a very personal, moving and motivating journey that you as a member of the audience go through with the characters; if you like British history; if you enjoy true story films.
